Village mayor's body found with a gunshot wound

About 09:00 on April 2, Proshyan village mayor Hrach Muradyan's (DOB 1963) body was found with a gunshot wound in front of the village administration building in Kotayq province.
The operative investigation group which immediately arrived at the scene found out that Hrach Muradyan had deceased from the gunshot wound to his right temple.
A criminal case has been initiated in Kotayq provincial investigation division under the subsection 2 of the 2-nd part of the 104-th article  (murder of a person or of a close relative of the latter, due to his service or public duty) and part 1 of the 235-th article (illegal procurement, transportation, keeping or carrying of weapons, explosives or explosive devices, except smoothbore long-barrel hunting guns, ammunition) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
A number of examinations has been assigned.
A preliminary investigation is underway.
