“The role of Women in Justice” conference organized by the U.S. Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Office was held at Armenia’s Academy of Justice on December 11-14. The conference aimed to raise the qualification of women working in law enforcement agencies and to emphasize their role in the justice sector. The event brought together Armenian judges, lawyers, investigators, and law enforcement personnel, as well as four women experts from the United States who have made achievements in the field of justice and had positive experiences.
The agenda was diverse - lectures, group work, discussions... A number of issues related to the opportunities for women to work in education and justice were discussed.
At the conference, U.S. legal and law enforcement experts shared their own experiences overcoming challenges in the U.S. justice system. Participants worked together to devise new strategies to increase the number of women in leadership positions in the Armenian justice sector and affect change on key issues.
High-ranking Armenian female police officers who have made serious achievements in the sphere of law enforcement, including Head of the Department for the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency and Domestic Violence of the General Department of Criminal Intelligence, Police Colonel Nelly Duryan, also shared their experience in this field.
