STATEMENT OF POLICE OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA

Police of the Republic of Armenia would hereby like to inform You that the December 6 assembly in Azatutyan square was again held in violation of law.
In particular, the assembly participants deviated from the route presented by them in the notice of Intention to hold an assembly and taken into account by the Police, and moved towards the building of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Armenia, not envisaged by the assembly notice. Here the organizers of the march demanded from Police to let them approach to the building of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Armenia and make their demands to that state body, they demanded from the police to take care that a representative of the Central Electoral Commission approached to them and listened to their demands.
After a short while the representative of the RA Police informed the assembly organizers that a session is being held at the Central Electoral Commission and the representative of the Commission will come down within 20 minutes to listen to their demands.
Simultaneously, the representative of the RA Police referring to the corresponding provision of the RA law “On freedom of assemblies”, demanded from the assembly participants to refrain from making noises disturbing other citizens’ rest starting from 10 p.m.
But the assembly organizers didn’t wait for the envisaged meeting with the representative of the Central Electoral Commission and in defiance of the legitimate demands of the RA Police, continued to march and make noises.
Police of the Republic of Armenia are once again warning that they won't succumb to any provocations and the Police will exclusively take measures as necessary and appropriate to the situation.
