STATEMENT
Police call on meeting participants
- to strictly comply with the requirements of the legislation in their actions,
- not to obstruct the free access to buildings, structures, and other premises located at the assembly venue or adjacent to it.
- not to allow restrictions on the right of free movement of other citizens, as well as on the movement of vehicles,
- refrain from using the territories of immovable monuments of history and culture, as well as the Republic Square complex without the permission of the competent authorities for other purposes not provided for by law, including setting up tents,
In this context, the Police remind that by Article 38 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On the Protection and Use of Immovable Monuments of History and Culture and the Historical environment", monuments are used mainly for scientific, educational, cultural and cognitive purposes, as well as for their initial and adapted (adaptive) functional purpose.
The law also establishes that the use of monuments for economic and other purposes is allowed if such use is consistent with the nature of the monument, does not harm the preservation of the monument, does not diminish or distort its historical, scientific and artistic value.
Thus, the Police consider that the installation of tents in the territories adjacent to the monuments of history and culture, and their use for the purpose of holding an assembly is incompatible with the historical and cultural significance of this place and diminishes its artistic value, as long as there is no consent of the competent state body on setting up tents or using other items for a specific meeting.
