Delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia visits Armenia

The delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia headed by Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri arrived in Armenia today on a two-day visit at the invitation of the Head of Police of the Republic of Armenia Vahe Ghazaryan.
On February 2, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan received Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vakhtang Gomelauri.
Welcoming the guest, the Prime Minister noted. "I am very happy for the new dynamics that have emerged in the relations between our countries. A few days ago, the Minister of Justice of Georgia was here, but, unfortunately, I could not meet him because of Covid-19. Our Head of Police had a previous visit to Georgia. We summed up last year with a sitting of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Tbilisi. Before that, I had several meetings with the Prime Minister of Georgia, my friend Irakli Garibashvili. And I think it's very important that our law enforcement systems work closely together. It is necessary for the security of our countries, for the protection of the rule of law”. Nikol Pashinyan conveyed his heartfelt greetings and wishes of health to the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, who has been infected with Covid-19.
Vakhtang Gomelauri thanked for the reception and conveyed the Georgian Prime Minister’s warm greetings to the RA Prime Minister. He noted that Armenia is a very important partner for Georgia, a friendly country. Speaking about the cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries, Vakhtang Gomelauri noted that they are always ready to support and listen to the Armenian experience, which is quite large.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia referred to the newly established patrol service, wishing success in completing this important initiative. The interlocutors exchanged views on sectoral reforms in Armenia and Georgia, shared information on the results of the patrol service reform process. Both sides emphasized the importance of exchange of experience and constant communication in the spirit of Armenian-Georgian friendly relations.

The Head of Armenian Police and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia laid a wreath at the memorial wall honoring Police officers who died in the line of duty.
Welcoming Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vakhtang Gomelauri and the delegation led by him, Head of Police of the Republic of Armenia Vahe Ghazaran underscored the special friendly relations between the two countries. Vahe Ghazaryan highly assessed the well-established cooperation between the Armenian Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, which has recently received a new impetus. The Head of Police expressed readiness to further strengthen and develop the existing cooperation between the two law enforcement bodies.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vakhtang Gomelauri emphasized the importance of the centuries-old Armenian-Georgian friendly relations. Pointing out a number of positive examples of successful cooperation, the Minister spoke about the possibilities of expanding the exchange of experience between Armenian and Georgian law enforcement agencies.
Issues related to the exchange of experience between the two agencies, intelligence of wanted persons, detection and transfer, exchange of operative information, fight against drug trafficking, as well as other issues of mutual interest were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, by the order of the Head of the RA Police Vahe Ghazaryan, Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vakhtang Gomelauri and delegation members were awarded medals "For Strengthening Cooperation".
