Police neutralize Iranian citizen։ he is arrested
In early July, the Department for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking of the General Department Criminal Police and Investigative decision of the administrative districts of Kentron and Nork-Marash received operational information about preparing a smuggling of narcotic drugs on an especially large scale across the Armenian-Iranian border.
Large-scale operational-search measures were taken. Employees of the Department for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking of the General Department of Criminal Police and the employees of the Department of Special Forces, together with the employees of the Central division of the RA Police arrived in Syunik Marz, where officers of the Kapan division of Police joined them.
“We went to that part of Syunik marz, through which, according to the information received, this person was expected to pass. On the evening of July 10, we set up an ambush at the indicated location. After a while, we noticed a man in a military uniform with a backpack, who was heading from the forest to the village of Srashen, Syunik marz,” said Gevorg Asryan, head of the Department for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking of the Main Directorate of Criminal Police.
The police continued to monitor the movement of the suspect. He was armed. Options for neutralizing him were discussed, and since the suspect was moving in the direction of the Armenian village, it was decided to wait until he came out onto the highway.
“One of the task forces set up an ambush in the indicated area. After the suspect left the forest, the officers of the special forces Department of the General Department of Criminal Police neutralized the man and disarmed him. "
On suspicion of illegally crossing the state border and transporting drugs, the man was brought to the Kapan Police division: during the arrest he resisted the Police. The arrestee has been identified as 24-year-old resident of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 4 kg 865 grams of heroin were found in his backpack. The discovered mass of heroin and the gun were sent for examination.
“We also examined the area he passed. Another backpack of his was found in the forest, containing bottles of water, food, military uniform, mask, hat and mobile phone.”
A criminal case has been initiated. 24-year-old citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran is arrested.
Investigation is underway.
