Armenian Police holds reception for the delegation led by PACE Monitoring Committee co-reporters on Armenia Axel Fischer and Alan Meale (VIDEO)
On Wednesday June 18 Deputy Head of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Major General Artur Osikyan received the delegation led by PACE Monitoring Committee co-reporters on Armenia Axel Fischer and Alan Meale.
Greeting the high-ranking guests, Artur Osikyan touched upon the works carried out within the framework of RA Police reform program during the last 2 years. Thus, in his speech Mr Osikyan focused on police officer's improved image and mentality, structural reforms and formation of substructure of the Police system, public confidence-building measures, prevention and detection of infringements by law enforcement officers, fight against corruption and etc.
The co-reporters expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome extended to them and assured in their readiness to continue promoting reforms in Armenia and Armenian Police, in particular, because Police system reformation is among the most important priorities for Armenian society.
The co-reporters took an interest in the cooperation between the Police and civil society institutes, the procedure of consideration of citizens' appeals and complaints, the issue of preservation of the principle of presumption of innocence in the process of inquiries and investigations, counteraction of domestic violence and civilian oversight of policing.
Full and exhaustive answers were provided to all the questions posed by the guests.
During the meeting the parties also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
