The Parties Expressed Readiness to Continue and Deepen Effective Cooperation
On April 14, RA Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan received the delegation led by Natia Natsvlishvili, the Resident Representative of the Armenian Office of the United Nations Development Program.
Vahe Ghazaryan, highly appreciating the formed effective cooperation, expressed special thanks to the UNDP for its constant support, which began back in 1999, on the basis of the quadrilateral agreement signed in Tbilisi on June 10.
The Minister of Internal Affairs singled out cooperation with the United Nations Development Program within the framework of "Police Reforms", one of the components of the "Accountable Institutions and Protection of Human Rights in Armenia" program funded by the EU. The program is implemented by the United Nations Development Program, UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund, and the OSCE.
Ghazaryan emphasized the large-scale works that have been carried out so far within the framework of the program, particularly in terms of modernization of educational programs, improvement of human resources capabilities, ensuring the involvement of women in police activities, digital transformation and other directions.
Natia Natsvlishvili thanked for the warm welcome and congratulated Vahe Ghazaryan on his appointment to such a responsible position. The resident representative of the Armenian office of the UNDP presented the projects implemented thanks to close cooperation and specially emphasized the fields of police and rescue service. She singled out especially the creation of the patrol service, the improvement of the involvement of women in the service, the work in the educational sector, increasing the accountability and transparency of the work of the units.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan also highlighted the close cooperation with the Armenia office of the United Nations Development Program and mentioned the future directions, the creation of a road map and continuous cooperation.
The meeting also referred to the implementation of the project "Re-framing road safety in Armenia: Connecting data, people, and policies for safer roads". The Minister thanked for the initiative, within the framework of which the proposed software solutions will enable to assess the existing problems as quickly and accurately as possible through the efficient collection, processing and analysis of relevant data, increasing road traffic safety.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to continue and deepen effective cooperation.
