Seminar on Violence against women in Yerevan
"Police Response to Violence against Women; strengthening the victim-centered approach” seminar-courses are being held in Yerevan on November 22 -26. The courses are attended by RA Police officers from Yerevan and marzes.
The event has been organized with the support of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan within the framework of the "Ratification of the Convention on the Prevention and Suppression of Violence against Women in Armenia".
Armen Sedrakyan, Deputy Head of the International Department of the Police Headquarters, and Maxime Longague, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, made opening remarks. Armen Sedrakyan noted that the Police are carrying out consistent activities in the direction of preventing and combating violence against women, and underscored the importance of the support provided by international organizations, in particular, the Council of Europe.
Welcoming the participants, Mr Longangue underlined the importance of the event aimed at preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence.
Trainers and experts also made speeches.
During the courses, the relevant police officers will enrich their knowledge through lectures, exercises and group work, which will be aimed at combating violence against women.
